Pope Leo XIV published a Pontifical Letter on Sept. 19 addressed to the bishops of Latin America and the Caribbean, marking the third centenary of the canonisation of Saint Turibius of Mogrovejo.

A day earlier, on Sept. 18, he received Uruguay's Catholic bishops at the Vatican during their ad limina visit to Rome. The two actions fell on consecutive days, the meeting with one national conference and the letter to the whole of the region's episcopate.

Taken together, the two appear to point a papal week at Latin America - though nothing in the record ties them together.
