United States President signed HR 1744, the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom Reauthorization Act of 2026, on November 3 2026, according to Congress.gov records.

On that same day, Lefkoniko municipality published a statement condemning the Turkish Cypriot side for refusing a request to hold religious services at Archangel Michael Church.

The municipality stated UNFICYP had informed it the service, scheduled for the coming Saturday, was rejected.
