The Democratic Party of Korea issued a statement on January 1 demanding that People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyung-won immediately stop her extreme expressions and attacks on the character of Yoon Hye-in, the nominee for Minister of Gender Equality and Family. ^[1] Jee Hyeok-jin, president of the Innovation Policy Research Institute at Jo Country, publicly criticized the government and the ruling Democratic Party on Facebook to increase his influence ahead of potential political integration talks. ^[2] Democratic Party spokesperson Jo Gye-won described lawmaker Na Kyung-won's comments as low-quality hate speech and distortion that does not reflect the stance of a senior member of the ruling party. ^[3] Jo Gye-won specifically criticized Na's attempt to link Yoon Hye-in with Kim Seung-won, the nominee for Minister of Justice, calling it the extreme limit of conspiracy theories based on delusion. ^[4] Jee Hyeok-jin stated that the government's recent decision to revert the non-resident single-family home property tax deduction to 1.2 billion won favors the top 1% rather than the public interest. ^[5] Jee Hyeok-jin warned that pushing for the dismissal of the impeachment trial without proper legal basis would lead to political and legal failure. ^[6] The Democratic Party responded to Jee Hyeok-jin's criticism by calling his remarks ungrateful and stating that his comments were inappropriate for a political ally. ^[7] The Democratic Party stated that attempts to paralyze national affairs with baseless schemes and political attacks will not gain public support. ^[8]
