Police officials said that a three-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped from a government hospital in west Delhi on August 27 was recovered from Munger district, Bihar, after police tracked the accused woman across more than 1,000 km. ^[1] Journalist Abhishek Upadhyay has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging a notice issued by the Ghaziabad police. ^[2] During questioning, Chunari Devi allegedly told police that she was a mother of six daughters and, due to medical complications, could not have another child, and that she kidnapped the boy with the intention of raising him as her own son. ^[3] Police said the toddler went missing on August 27 while playing near his mother, who had gone to a west Delhi government hospital to collect medicines. ^[4] Police tracked Chunari Devi via CCTV footage from the hospital and nearby areas, seeing her travel in an e-rickshaw toward Madipur village, then to her native state, and eventually recovered the child from Asnaha village in Bihar's Munger district. ^[5] Upadhyay's legal team informed the journalist on August 26 that they had received the request concerning his handle. ^[6]
