The Fiscalía General del Estado de Oaxaca (FGEO) obtained a conviction sentence of 37 years and 6 months in prison against Sergio G.H.A. for the crime of disappearance committed by private individuals against two brothers identified as E.DM.R. and J.I.M.R. ^[1] The judge imposed a prison sentence of 37 years and 6 months against Sergio G.H.A., along with a fine and abstract restitution in favor of indirect victims. ^[2] A group of people subjected the brothers to involuntary confinement and transported them in a second vehicle before forcing them to change to a compact car to take them to another location where they were hidden. ^[3] The victims were attacked with gunfire while driving, causing them to lose control of the Ford Ranger and exit the road, according to investigations by the Vicefiscalía General de Atención a Víctimas y Derechos Humanos. ^[4] After the presentation of evidence and respective hearings, the judicial authority issued a sentence determining 37 years and 6 months in prison, plus a fine and abstract damages in favor of the indirect victims. ^[5] The Fiscalía General del Estado stated that the crimes occurred on July 31, 2019, when the victims were traveling in a Ford Ranger on a dirt road connecting Zongolica, Chilchotla, with the agency Cinco de Mayo, Huautla de Jiménez. ^[6] The investigation established that the victims were attacked with gunfire, causing their Ford Ranger to leave the road, after which a group of people abducted them and forced them into another truck. ^[7]
