Researchers propose Quantized ABBA (QABBA), a quantized version of Adaptive Brownian Bridge-based Aggregation (ABBA), to convert long numerical series into short symbolic sequences. ^[1] In 1991, the first Berlin 'Mauerschützen' trial began at the Berlin Regional Court against four former East German border guards who in 1989 shot 20-year-old Chris Gueffroy during an escape attempt. ^[2] In 2016, South Korean electronics firm Samsung recalled its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones after batteries caught fire and exploded, and completely stopped production on October 11, 2016. ^[3] By quantizing the symbolic centers, QABBA reduces the parameter footprint and enables integer arithmetic while maintaining high reconstruction quality. ^[4] Experiments on the Monash regression archive, UCR Time Series Classification Archive, and UEA Multivariate Time Series Classification Archive demonstrate a practical trade-off among storage, reconstruction accuracy and downstream predictive performance. ^[5] The study establishes a dimension-free bound on the excess error of each segment, a time-domain reconstruction-error bound, and a stability condition for symbolic assignment. ^[6] In the 1991 Mauerschützen trial the shooter was sentenced to three and a half years in prison, three co-defendants received suspended sentences, and in 1994 the Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof) overturned the verdict because the soldiers were at the bottom of the hierarchy; subsequent trials of border guards imposed relatively light sentences. ^[7] On September 2, 2021, Swedish pop group ABBA announced a new studio album titled 'Voyage', nearly 40 years after the band split, featuring members Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. ^[8]
