Bali Governor Wayan Koster expressed hope for an increase in tourist arrivals from Taiwan as he welcomed plans to reopen a direct flight route from Taipei to the Indonesian province. ^[1] Alaska Airlines' Atmos Rewards program updated its policy to charge only government-mandated international taxes for lap infants on long-haul international award tickets issued on '027' stock. ^[2] David Wen-Chiun Lin, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Surabaya, underscored that the arrival of the Starlux aircraft in early October would mark the reopening of the direct flight after a hiatus. ^[3] Wayan Koster expressed interest in attending a ceremony welcoming a Starlux aircraft on its inaugural flight to Bali on October 1, 2026. ^[4] Wayan Koster remarked while hosting David Wen-Chiun Lin, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Surabaya, that the opening of the direct flight route would deliver positive impacts on Bali's tourism. ^[5] Lap infants are defined as passengers under the age of 2 on the date of travel who do not require their own seat. ^[6] Previously, lap infants on international flights were charged 10% of the adult revenue fare plus taxes and fees, regardless of whether the adult paid cash or redeemed miles. ^[7] The new policy applies to flights operated by Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and partner airlines including British Airways, Japan Airlines, American Airlines, Icelandair, and Starlux. ^[8]
