The Pew Research Center published a survey on Tuesday stating that one in five Latinos in the United States believes they have achieved the American Dream. ^[1] The Nuevo León state administration reported that the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will extend crossing hours for empty trucks and trailers at Puerto Colombia-Laredo by one hour, at the request of the Nuevo León government, to speed up cross-border trade with Texas. ^[2] 57% of Latino respondents stated their standard of living is higher than their parents had at the same age, while 53% trust their children will be even better off. ^[3] Nearly half of the respondents, 48%, stated that the American Dream is more complicated to achieve now than it was for their parents. ^[4] Despite challenges, 57% of Latinos surveyed believe their standard of living is superior to what their parents had at the same age, and 53% trust their children will be even better off. ^[5] Marco González, Secretary of Regional and Agricultural Development of Nuevo León, said he requested the extension on 2026-08-26 from Albert Flores, CBP director for Puerto Laredo, and that the positive response came in less than a week. ^[6] The honorary director of Codefront, the entity that administers the Puerto Colombia-Laredo crossing, said the adjustment will be a 90-day pilot program starting on 2026-09-14, with operations from 7:00 a.m. to midnight. ^[7] González clarified that the program does not apply to commercial cargo units with merchandise, nor to informal entries. ^[8]
