South Korean police disclosed on September 1 that Zheng Changsheng, a 31-year-old Chinese man, is the suspect in the murder of his female student in Gyeongsan. ^[1] Zheng Changsheng was formally arrested on Thursday for allegedly murdering the 25-year-old female student at his home in Gyeongsan on August 20. ^[2] Jeong Chang-seong, a 31-year-old Chinese national, is accused of murdering a Chinese female student at his residence in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan, on 2026-08-20, then dismembering and discarding the body across the country. ^[3] On 2026-09-01, police recovered additional remains of the Chinese female student murdered by Jeong Chang-seong at Palgongsan in Daegu, based on the suspect's statements and vehicle movement. ^[4] Police stated that the suspect mutilated the victim's body and abandoned body parts in multiple places in Gunpo and Gyeongju. ^[5] The suspect is accused of filing a false missing report, traveling to a train station dressed as a woman, and turning off the victim's mobile phone to obstruct the investigation. ^[6] Police conducted a psychopathy test (PCL-R) on Jeong Chang-seong on 2026-08-30, after he initially refused but later agreed to take it. ^[7] Police had previously recovered dismembered remains from a mountain in Gyeongsan, Bulguksa in Gyeongju, and Gunpo in Gyeonggi, based on locations indicated by Jeong Chang-seong. ^[8]
