Ahmad Haikal Hasan, Head of the Halal Certification Agency (BPJPH) in Indonesia, encouraged business owners to secure halal certification to add business value and boost the competitiveness of Indonesia's top tourist destinations. ^[1] Ahmad Haikal Hasan stated in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday that the availability of halal products is key to offering inclusive services for travelers with diverse backgrounds and needs in global tourism. ^[2] The Halal Certification Agency (BPJPH) is strengthening its supervision and guidance on halal product assurance in Bali to ensure certainty and comfort for international tourists with diverse needs. ^[3] Ahmad Haikal Hasan stated on 2026-09-02 that the mandatory halal certification policy must be viewed as a broader framework to build a strong and integrated halal ecosystem from upstream to downstream. ^[4] The contribution of the halal value chain to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased from 24 percent in 2023 to 25 percent in 2024 and 27 percent in 2025. ^[5] The halal value chain in Indonesia grew from Rp4,900 trillion in 2023 to Rp5,500 trillion in 2024 and reached Rp6,400 trillion in 2025. ^[6] The mandatory halal certification policy is scheduled to be implemented in October 2026. ^[7] Ahmad Haikal Hasan emphasized that halal certification is becoming increasingly relevant as the standard evolves to include quality, hygiene, health, traceability, and responsible production processes for all consumers. ^[8]
