Tyler Holtrust, a 33-year-old man reported to be homeless, was arrested and charged with one felony and eight misdemeanor counts of destruction of property for allegedly damaging 81 vehicles in a Richmond, Virginia, parking lot. ^[1] Police in Richmond, Virginia, stated that an individual smashed more than 80 cars in a parking lot near Main Street Station around 11 a.m. on Tuesday. ^[2] Investigators are working with VCU Police to identify the affected vehicle owners, who were notified of the investigation through flyers left on their cars. ^[3] Richmond Police responded to a report of vehicle damage at East Grace and Ambler streets in the Shockoe Bottom neighborhood shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday. ^[4] According to a police news release, officers found the suspect holding a brick at the scene, which likely caused the damage to the windshields. ^[5] Sydney Lee, a witness, observed police officers putting the suspect in cuffs and getting him into an ambulance before she noticed the damage to her own vehicle. ^[6] A GoFundMe has been set up to help victims replace their smashed windshields, as some victims stated their insurance will not fully cover the damage. ^[7]
