The Colombian Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) forecasted abundant cloud cover, moderate to heavy rain, and thunderstorms across the northern territories of Colombia on the morning of September 1. ^[1] The Colombian Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) anticipates important rains in different regions of Colombia on September 2, alongside temperatures above climatological averages. ^[2] A total of 212 municipalities are under some level of fire alert, led by Cundinamarca with 29 municipalities and Tolima with 25. ^[3] IDEAM estimates that the highest precipitation accumulations will occur in the Pacific region during the afternoon and night, and over its maritime platform in the morning. ^[4] In the Caribbean region, rainfall is expected mainly in Cesar, Magdalena, and specific sectors of central Bolívar and southern Sucre. ^[5] A red alert for heat is established during afternoon hours in sectors of La Guajira, Cesar, Magdalena, Bolívar, Norte de Santander, Arauca, Guaviare, Guainía, Vaupés, Amazonas, and the east of Caquetá due to high temperatures and humidity. ^[6] IDEAM issued a warning that specific regions face a higher risk of forest fires due to the weather conditions. ^[7] The greatest precipitation accumulations are expected in sectors of the center and south of the Caribbean region, particularly during the night and early morning. ^[8]
