The 2026 TELUS Mental Health Index reports that 63% of Canadian workers identify the cost of living as their primary source of financial stress. ^[1] One in seven US workers says money stress is negatively affecting their workplace productivity, and 15 percent report that personal financial stress is directly hurting their work productivity. ^[2] TELUS Health released the Q2 2026 TELUS Mental Health Index on 2026-06-25, reporting that the cost of living is the single largest financial stressor for 58 percent of US workers. ^[3] Sixty percent of Canadian workers do not fully understand the retirement or savings plan to which they contribute monthly. ^[4] Workers without an emergency savings fund are nearly three times more likely to report reduced productivity and score 20.6 points lower on the mental health index. ^[5]
