The National Council for Labor and Employment Promotion (CNTPE) agreed to increase the minimum wage from S/1,103 to S/1,300 during a regular session with full quorum. ^[1] Both the business sector and workers agreed to the increase in the Minimum Vital Remuneration (RMV) but maintain disagreement regarding the date and method of the update. ^[2] The full council of the CNTPE tasked the Special Commission for Productivity and Minimum Wages (CEPSM) with formulating a technical proposal to institutionalize the procedure for adjusting the RMV. ^[3] Labor Minister Juan Sheput stated that economic and labor indicators allow the discussion to resume, though the date and modality of the increase remain to be determined. ^[4] The current minimum wage of S/1,130 has been in effect since January 2025, representing an increase of S/105 from the previous floor of S/1,025. ^[5] The proposed increase to S/1,300 represents a rise of S/170, equivalent to approximately 15% over the current RMV. ^[6] Labor Minister Juan Sheput presided over the session and proposed declaring the instance in permanent session to address the country's main labor challenges. ^[7]
