The National Electoral Office (ONPE) announced that citizens selected as election poll workers for the October 4, 2026, regional and municipal elections can now validate their information and register for economic compensation. ^[1] The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) in Peru opened a registration portal on its website for citizens designated as poll workers for the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections. ^[2] Registered poll workers can choose between depositing the payment into savings accounts at BCP, BBVA, or Scotiabank, using the digital wallet YAPE, or receiving it at a Banco de la Nación window. ^[3] The economic compensation for poll workers performing duties as presidents, secretaries, or third members of the table is 165 soles, which is equivalent to 3% of a tax unit (UIT). ^[4] The compensation amount of 165 soles represents 3% of the 2026 tax unit (UIT), which is fixed at 5,500 soles according to current legislation. ^[5] Reniec, Peru's national identity registry, charges S/34.00 for updating the residential address on a valid electronic DNI (DNIe), using payment code 00730, which can be paid via the Yape app or at Banco de la Nación agencies. ^[6] Unregistered poll workers will not be able to choose a payment modality and must collect the payment physically at any Banco de la Nación branch. ^[7]
