Sweden's engineering group AFRY has been appointed international technical adviser for the $2.69bn Thai Binh LNG-to-power development in northern Vietnam. ^[1] For the Thai Binh project, AFRY's scope includes offshore LNG receiving infrastructure, subsea gas pipeline systems, a submerged yoke mooring system, marine facilities and offshore surveys, plus technical work on the associated 1.5 GW combined-cycle power plant. ^[2] The Thai Binh LNG-to-power project broke ground in October 2025 and is scheduled to reach full commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2029. ^[3] The Thai Binh LNG-to-power project is owned by Japan's Tokyo Gas (40%), Kyuden International (30%) and Vietnam's Truong Thanh Viet Nam Group (30%). ^[4] Nguyen Van An, Chairman of the Duan Dao commune People's Committee, stated that the commune aims to eliminate poverty by 2027 and achieve urban class V status by 2030 through digital transformation and high-tech agriculture. ^[5] Residents of Duan Dao commune contributed a total of 7,465 square meters of land and demolished 2,638 meters of walls to support the construction of roads and civil works, with over 90% expressing satisfaction with the results. ^[6] The average per capita income in Duan Dao commune is projected to reach 102 million VND in 2025, with 35% of farming households achieving the title of excellent production and business operators. ^[7] The commune is converting over 565 hectares of inefficient rice paddies to fruit orchards, aiming to raise the average production value per hectare to 230 million VND in 2025. ^[8]
