Ford has issued two recalls affecting nearly 160,000 Mustangs, Broncos, Explorers, Rangers, and Bronco Sport vehicles due to potential power loss issues. ^[1] The first recall covers 148,663 2024-2026 Mustangs that may have a wiring harness problem where ground eyelets could fracture. ^[2] Saildrone and Lockheed Martin announced on 2026-08-20 that a Saildrone Surveyor-class unmanned surface vessel launched two JAGM missiles during Exercise Rim of the Pacific 2026, describing it as the first missile launch from an unmanned USV. ^[3] A fractured wiring harness in the Mustangs could cause the vehicles to lose drive power and stop headlights, air conditioning, the engine cooling fan, or the windshield washer fluid pump from working. ^[4] The second recall affects 10,001 2026 Bronco, Bronco Sport, Explorer, Ranger, and Mustang vehicles with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that may have piston failure. ^[5] The JAGM is the successor to the Hellfire missile, a 50kg weapon with an 18km effective targeting radius, designed to target smaller, faster aerial and naval targets such as one-way drones and small boats, not ships. ^[6] The missile launch demonstration ran in coordination with the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group under the US Navy's Fleet Experimentation Program. ^[7] The USV Ranger fired an SM-6 missile from a containerized four-cell launcher in September 2021 under the Ghost Fleet Overlord program, predating the Surveyor's launch. ^[8]
