The Midtjylland Region announced in a press release that free parking for patients at hospitals in the region is part of a 2027 budget agreement reached on Thursday night. ^[1] Anders G. Christensen, chairman of the Midtjylland Region, stated that calculations received during 2026 showed that a free parking scheme for everyone would be significantly more expensive than expected and risk creating parking chaos around hospitals. ^[2] Free parking was previously approved before the budget agreement last year but was not implemented in 2026 because calculations showed there was insufficient capacity to accommodate the cars and it would be more expensive than anticipated. ^[3] Kjeldsen said that being aware of a camera during a birth can shift focus during critical moments and potentially affect midwives' work. ^[4] Kjeldsen urged parents to ask before photographing births, stating that social media have changed how birth photos are used, even though photographing births itself is not new. ^[5] Vice chief midwife Anne Cathrine Kjeldsen of the maternity ward at Aarhus University Hospital (AUH) told TV 2 Østjylland that photographing during childbirth can be a nuisance to midwives' work and a violation of their right to privacy. ^[6] Free parking will be introduced at Regionshospitalet Silkeborg starting January 1, 2028. ^[7] The maternity ward at Aarhus University Hospital posted on Instagram that they are happy to help document a birth if circumstances allow, but want to be informed if midwives appear in photos or videos and want the opportunity to decline. ^[8]
