Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during a speech at the Eastern Economic Forum (VEF-2026) that the first shipment of oil from the Vostok Oil project in the Krasnoyarsk Krai region will occur in the near future. ^[1] Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum on September 3 that Russia aims to make navigation along the Northern Sea Route year-round. ^[2] Putin stated that the total volume of annual transport via the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor is expected to double by the end of the decade to 70 million tons. ^[3] The Vostok Oil project involves the development of oil fields on the Taymyr Peninsula, with a resource base estimated at 6.5 billion tons of low-sulfur oil. ^[4] To facilitate oil shipments, a main oil pipeline will be launched to the new terminal named 'Bukhta Sever', and raw materials will be shipped to buyers via 'Arctic Sea Routes'. ^[5] Putin noted that Russia is building icebreakers, ice-class vessels, service and rescue fleets to support the year-round navigation goal. ^[6] Putin stressed that a comprehensive plan for the development of the Arctic and the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor should become a key initiative designed to integrate the logistics networks of the Far Eastern and Arctic regions. ^[7] The Russian President stated that Russia is expanding its satellite constellation and strengthening port infrastructure to ensure the flexibility and security of international supplies. ^[8]
