A 30-year-old government employee was arrested by the Gwangju Police Station in Gwangju, South Korea, on suspicion of murder. ^[1] The suspect stabbed his wife to death with a weapon while she was hiding in a multi-family building to escape domestic violence. ^[2] A 30-year-old South Korean civil servant was arrested on suspicion of murder after stabbing his wife to death on the stairs of a multi-family housing complex in Gwangju. ^[3] Prosecutors summoned Park Sung-joo, the former head of the National Investigation Service, as a suspect to investigate allegations of a flawed investigation into the murder of high school student Jang Yoon-gi. ^[4] The suspect admitted to police that he killed his wife out of resentment because he believed the divorce lawsuit results regarding alimony, property division, and custody would be unfavorable to him. ^[5] The victim had moved to the new location to escape her husband's violence and was waiting for him at the stairs when the attack occurred. ^[6] The suspect stated during police investigation that he committed the murder because he feared receiving an unfavorable verdict regarding alimony and child support in the divorce lawsuit. ^[7] The victim's 5-year-old daughter was present at the scene and suffered finger injuries during the attack, receiving emergency treatment. ^[8]
