Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. announced on September 2, 2026, that it is expanding a recall of frozen organic IQF blueberries to include one lot of Great Value frozen organic triple berry blend. ^[1] The expansion of the recall is due to potential contamination with Escherichia coli O145:H28 (E. coli O145) in the affected lot. ^[2] The FDA investigation linked the outbreak to organic frozen blueberries from Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., a company based in San Carlos, Chile. ^[3] The Food and Drug Administration reported on September 3 that an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 infections is linked to imported organic, frozen blueberries. ^[4] The affected product was shipped to select Walmart stores in 16 states including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin. ^[5] The recalled product is Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend 10 OZ with UPC 7874211226, containing strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries. ^[6] The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that for every confirmed E. coli patient, 26 go undetected, suggesting the actual number of sick people is much higher than the official count. ^[7] The recalled products include GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries sold at Publix stores, and Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend sold at Walmart stores. ^[8]
