South Korean prosecutors requested a prison sentence of 1 to 2 years for an 18-year-old university student accused of violating the Terrorist Prevention Act. ^[1] The Regional Court of Mönchengladbach sentenced a 35-year-old man to seven years in prison for attempted murder of his stepfather. ^[2] Prosecutors stated that although the defendant is a juvenile, acquiring bomb-making methods from the terrorist group indicates poor character quality. ^[3] The student testified that he planned to travel to Mozambique to carry out a terrorist attack against government forces. ^[4] The student, identified as A, is accused of pledging allegiance to ISIS, viewing execution propaganda, and attempting to join the group as a foreign fighter. ^[5] After the knife blade broke, the defendant sprayed pepper spray into the victim's face and injured the victim's mother with pepper spray. ^[6] The attack occurred in Viersen when the defendant stabbed the sleeping 61-year-old victim with a butcher's knife, causing the blade to break. ^[7] The presiding judge stated that stabbing a person with a large knife while they are sleeping constitutes an act of intent to kill. ^[8]
