Mauricio Tabe, president of the National Association of Mayors (ANAC), asked President Claudia Sheinbaum to tour public schools across Mexico to personally verify the conditions of thousands of educational campuses. ^[1] Ceci Vadillo, a local deputy from the Morena party, urged Mayor Mauricio Tabe of Miguel Hidalgo to reinstate Angélica Jacinto Camargo as director of the Cendi in Tacubaya. ^[2] On August 18, Tabe, along with other mayors and municipal presidents, delivered a legislative initiative to federal deputies to create the Educational Infrastructure Fund (FAIE). ^[3] Tabe said it is urgent to provide resources to mayors and municipalities, as the governments closest to the population, so they can directly address infrastructure and maintenance needs of basic education schools. ^[4] The FAIE proposal seeks to send resources directly to local governments to address deficiencies in basic education schools and proposes allocating at least 1.5 million pesos to each of approximately 220,000 educational campuses in the country for maintenance work. ^[5] Angélica Jacinto Camargo was removed from her position after publicly denouncing infestations of rats, cockroaches, and black water at the Cendi facility. ^[6] Ceci Vadillo directed the Internal Control Organ of Miguel Hidalgo to investigate administrative actions across all Cendis in the district. ^[7] Following the director's report, the municipal administration allegedly forced parents to sign letters against her starting July 13. ^[8]
