Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) signed the Bishkek Declaration at a summit held in Kyrgyzstan to mark the organization's 25th anniversary. ^[1] Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that the most important achievement of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) over 25 years is its evolution into a large-scale regional cooperation organization. ^[2] President Xi Jinping proposed prioritizing development to open up prospects for shared prosperity, including promoting inclusive globalization and expanding cooperation in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, digital economy, and green industry. ^[3] Member states of the SCO expressed opposition in the declaration to unilateral coercive measures that contradict the UN Charter and other norms of international law. ^[4] Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the SCO to make all efforts to exclude the provocation of armed conflicts from global practice. ^[5] In addition to the declaration, 27 other documents were signed at the summit. ^[6] China will prioritize the SCO in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and establish a China-SCO Border Economic Cooperation Center in Tianjin to implement 100 science and technology cooperation projects with member states over the next three years. ^[7] President Xi Jinping identified the 'Shanghai Spirit' of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for civilizational diversity, and common development as the organization's most precious spiritual value. ^[8] Russian President Vladimir Putin said that national currencies now account for more than 98% of Russia's settlements with other SCO countries. ^[9] The Bishkek summit adopted the Bishkek Declaration along with 27 other documents, including decisions on responding to security challenges, combating drug trafficking, developing ports and logistics hubs, nuclear safety, energy, and emergency response. ^[10] The parties signed a cooperation program for establishing the SCO Green Technology Corridor for 2026-2030. ^[11]
