The Municipality of Ñuñoa approved in April 2026 a revised anteproyecto by Megamedia on its land near the Ñuble metro station in Santiago, which replaces the original mixed-use plan with three 18-story residential towers and eliminates the scheduled shopping center block. ^[1] In December 2022, the same municipality had approved an initial anteproyecto for Megamedia's development specifying a built area of 97,320 square meters, organized into four 18-story towers and a two-story shopping center, which included 914 residential apartments, 273 storage areas, and 1,361 vehicle parking spaces. ^[2] Mauricio Ortiz, executive director of the real estate consultancy MO Global Advisors for shopping centers, stated that the decision to scale down the project and eliminate its commercial space was driven by market conditions, especially the proximity of the large Mall Santiago, which would have made the proposed commercial development uncompetitive. ^[3] Megamedia declined to comment publicly to the newspaper, but sources inside the company said in 2026 that the project is still under consideration and remains in evaluation since of the new anteproyecto approval. ^[4] Street vendors from Mexico City began setting up stalls selling tricolor patriotic items in Tizimín at the start of September. ^[5] Upcoming activities include a charro parade, primary and secondary school parades, and the September 16 civil-military parade. ^[6] Vendors expect buyer response to improve as the week progresses, especially with the resumption of classes and approaching school parades. ^[7] Workers completed the decoration of the main park with tricolor motifs on Tuesday. ^[8]
