Intermittent rain in Ambedkar Nagar district, including rural areas like Jalalpur, Akbarpur, Tanda, Katehari, Bhiti, Alapur, and Rajesultanpur, has benefited the paddy crop and pleased farmers. ^[1] About 50,000 villagers from Ninampur and surrounding villages in Ambedkar Nagar are affected by the closed underpass and are forced to cross the railway tracks. ^[2] The underpass beneath the railway track in Ninampur village, Katehari area, Ambedkar Nagar, has been submerged in water for 15 days, closing the route for villagers. ^[3] Farmers in Ambedkar Nagar said that before the rain, they had to irrigate using private tubewells at about 200 Indian rupees per hour, and the continuous rain has eliminated this irrigation cost. ^[4] Farmers in Ambedkar Nagar said that fertilizer application is almost complete, the paddy crop is reaching its final growth stage, and grains are forming in many fields. ^[5] Farmers in Ambedkar Nagar said that if weather stays balanced and there is no heavy rain or waterlogging, the rain will be very beneficial for the paddy crop. ^[6] BDO Jagannath Chaudhary said the matter is under cognizance and instructions have been given to the concerned village head (gram pradhan) and secretary to drain the water soon. ^[7] School children and other villagers are forced to walk over the railway tracks because the underpass is flooded, creating a risk of a major accident. ^[8]
